Community & Education Officer – Discover Children’s Story Centre

Salary: 21,000-23,000 depending on experience.

Discover Children’s Story Centre is the UK’s first hands-on literature/literacy centre in Stratford, east London attracting over 80,000 visitors per year and working with a further 17,000 outside of the venue.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable person to play a key role in the Community and Education Department working closely with the Head of Learning to plan, organise and run the exciting Learning programme.

Your role will include scheduling and coordinating outreach work, liaising with the Head of Learning and our Story Builders to form creative content for projects and managing two key components of Discover’s work; Mighty Mega, a Saturday morning club for disabled children and their families and the Children’s Forum, a group of children aged 6-11 year who meet monthly to support decisions and work creatively to influence developments and plans at Discover.

You will have a good understanding of arts education and have experience of coordinating and managing projects.  You will be imaginative and resourceful and will be interested in children’s literature and literacy.  Discover collaborates with writers, artists and schools to create fantastic learning experiences in one of the most vibrant and innovative areas of the UK.

All Discover staff members are required to have a current valid DBS check or be able to submit an enhanced DBS disclosure in line with Discover Policy.
